The Sustainable Business Award
sponsored by Nestlé Professional
Specialists in Sustainability
One of the biggest names in the food and drink industry, Nestlé Professional® - one of only two companies worldwide with the Dow Jones Gold Class membership in the food category - has corporate and social responsibility at the heart of its business. The company’s own sustainability strategy focuses on short- and long-term priorities, including: water; energy and emissions; transport and distribution; waste and packaging; sourcing; nutrition; health and wellness; marketing, and consumer information.
By supporting the CIS Excellence Sustainable Business Award, Nestlé Professional® aims to encourage other like-minded organisations to showcase their sustainability credentials, and to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to social responsibility.
‘Sustainability is one of the most pressing challenges facing foodservice businesses,’ says Managing Director, David Field. ‘We know that operating a sustainable business is not an easy task, nor is it one that can be achieved overnight.
‘However, by recognising the wider efforts being made in this area, we hope to encourage the industry to continue its great work, and that companies and organisations will strive to improve efficiency still further in the future.’

The Independent Event-Caterer of the Year Award
sponsored by Charlton House and Hilton Glasgow
Excellence Comes Naturally
This past year has seen Charlton House’s portfolio of public catering contracts expand with the addition of the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Network Rail in Glasgow, and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Annual turnover now stands at £75m and the company holds 120 high profile contracts nationwide. As well as its solid core of B&I contracts, Charlton House’s event catering is continuing to grow, with recent events including the Lord Mayor’s Banquet and the G20 Summit at Her Majesty’s Treasury. Charlton House’s growing events and venues portfolio now includes the Mansion House, the private residence of the Lord Mayor.
‘As an owner-managed, independent player ourselves, we admire entrepreneurial spirit, clear vision and the ability to survive during tough economic times, which is why we chose to support the Independent Event-Caterer of the Year at the CIS Excellence Awards 2010,’ said
Robyn Jones, Chief Executive of Charlton House.
‘Our work at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and elsewhere is underlined by a firm commitment to supporting local suppliers and we consistently champion the use of local, seasonal and sustainable foods. We want to celebrate and award those who make the most of Scotland’s fabulous natural larder to create memorable events with outstanding food.’
